Ahmad is one of the living treasures behind my creations. Born in 1979 in Aderbissinat, a thousand kilometers from Niger’s capital Niamey, he grew up with a passion for jewelry in his blood. Ahmad is Tuareg, a nomadic people with ancient traditions, and it was at his father’s side that he learned the art of jewelry, almost like a sacred transmission, a precious know-how that can’t be found in any book. He never had the chance to go to school, but he never let that stop him. From an early age, his dream was clear: to create jewelry and one day build his own home in his village and live close to his brothers. Today, he lives in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, in a small courtyard full of life, shared with seven families. Imagine a lively scene: children running around, laughter erupting under the tall mango trees, and fresh laundry drying in the wind. Here, Ahmad lives with his wife and young daughter, in a warm atmosphere where human bonds are strong and community is part of everyday life. Ahmad excels in the ancestral art of Tuareg jewelry. He carves, chisels and gives life to each piece. What’s most striking is his precision and speed in transforming a simple piece of metal into a work of art, almost as if he brought it to life in the blink of an eye. Each piece of jewelry carries the essence of Tuareg tradition, but also Ahmad’s personality, his history, his dreams, his family.
